Draft Grades: Forestline

Overview

Captain EJ Bantigue drafted a team that reflects his own style of play—physical, intelligent, and relentless.

Rather than chasing flashy scorers, Forestline prioritized size, toughness, and high-IQ basketball. EJ is surrounded by players who embrace doing the dirty work, from reigning Defensive Player of the Year Yas Halkic to bruising big man Ian Garcia and veteran point guard Mujtaba Saadat. Every pick seems to fit a specific purpose, giving Forestline one of the strongest team identities in the league.

They may not have the offensive firepower of Precision or the star power of Pulse, but don't expect many easy nights against this group. Forestline looks built to wear opponents down over four quarters.

Biggest Strength

Physicality and Basketball IQ

Forestline should be one of the toughest teams to play against. EJ, Ian, Yas, Morgan, and Michael all thrive in physical basketball, while veterans like Mujtaba bring the decision-making needed to keep the offense organized. This roster won't beat itself.

Biggest Concern

Perimeter Shot Creation

Forestline has plenty of players who can finish around the basket and dominate the glass, but creating offense against set defenses could become a challenge. They'll need Wil Turcios to stretch the floor and players like Mujtaba to consistently create quality looks if they want to keep pace with the league's highest-scoring teams.

Best Pick

Mujtaba Saadat (Round 7)

Landing a veteran point guard with Mujtaba's experience and basketball IQ in the seventh round is tremendous value. His ability to control the pace, find cutters, and make smart decisions should help bring out the best in Forestline's frontcourt.

Sleeper Pick

Morgan Atanga (Round 6)

Morgan slipped because of durability concerns, but when healthy, he's one of the league's most physical interior players. His downhill attacking style and relentless offensive rebounding could make him one of the steals of the middle rounds if he stays on the floor.

X-Factor

Yas Halkic

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year changes the identity of this team whenever he's on the court. His ability to shut down opposing stars and generate second-chance opportunities is unmatched. The only question is availability. If Yas is there consistently, Forestline becomes one of the toughest outs in the BUBL. If work limits his season, replacing that impact—even with a quality player like Blake Baker—will be a difficult task.

Final Verdict

Forestline didn't try to outscore everyone—they built a roster that's prepared to outwork everyone. Led by EJ Bantigue, this team is loaded with size, toughness, and players who understand their roles. They may not fill the highlight reels every week, but they'll make opponents earn every possession. If they can generate enough consistent offense and keep their core together, Forestline has all the ingredients of a legitimate championship contender.
