Captain Jacob Pitt took a calculated gamble on upside, and if it pays off, Equilibrium could become one of the biggest surprises in the BUBL.
The headline move was selecting Brandon McGlone in the first round—a player whose elite shooting ability has never been questioned, but whose recent lack of basketball has left some wondering how quickly he'll return to form. Jacob then landed tremendous value with Russell Williams in the second round before betting on another high-upside player in Benton Campbell, whose draft stock slipped because of injury concerns rather than talent.
If Brandon and Benton return to their peak form, this team could dramatically outperform expectations.
High Offensive Ceiling
Brandon McGlone, Russell Williams, Jacob Pitt, and a healthy Benton Campbell are all capable of putting points on the board in a hurry. Equilibrium has multiple players who can create offense in different ways, making them difficult to prepare for if everyone is available and playing well.
Health and Consistency
This roster has more question marks than most. Brandon is working his way back after years away from competitive basketball, Benton has battled injuries, and several role players have yet to establish consistent production. If those pieces don't come together, Equilibrium could struggle to reach its full potential.
Russell Williams (Round 2)
Getting a fringe All-BUBL caliber player in the second round is outstanding value. Russ proved last season just how important he is, both through his playoff performance and by how much his team missed him when he was sidelined. He gives Equilibrium a reliable interior scoring presence and veteran experience.
Benton Campbell (Round 4)
If Benton is healthy, this pick could end up looking like one of the biggest steals of the draft. His combination of size, playmaking, scoring ability, and defensive versatility gives him legitimate first-round talent. Health is the only reason he was still available.
Brandon McGlone
No player on this roster carries a wider range of outcomes. If Brandon quickly returns to the form many remember, he'll instantly become one of the league's premier shooters and offensive threats. If it takes time to shake off the rust, Equilibrium may need others to carry the scoring load early in the season.
Equilibrium may be the hardest team in the league to predict. Their roster features several players with proven high-level ability, but also more uncertainty than many of the teams drafted ahead of them. Jacob Pitt was willing to bet on talent over certainty, and if those bets pay off, Equilibrium could surprise a lot of people. Don't be shocked if this team looks significantly better in Week 15 than it does in Week 1.
